Hello, my name is Paula Mossakowska, I’m a Belgo-British designer exploring since 2017 the vast world of natural fibre basket weaving, from my Kumano Moss studio in Brussels.

My research is guided by the use of locally accessible materials with a minimal environmental footprint. I tirelessly try to perfect my skills in the field of traditional basketry; this nurtures my passion for objects perfected over the centuries, whose beauty comes from their simplicity of form and manufacture.

Holding a BA in Interior Architecture and a professional background in graphic design, I enjoy mixing my weaving practice with multidisciplinary collaborative projects. My practical weaving skills have been learned over the last few years (2019-2022) at the French school of basketry in Northern France and have been collected from a sea of talented basket weavers and friends during numerous workshops and encounters.
